Trees Out on Colorado Plains
9.5 x 7.25" / pencil & color pencilI would go out onto the plains and find an interesting view and make the drawing because it had to be done simply over my lunch hour. This drawing is sketched out in pencil and then accented with colored pencil. All drawn on toned paper. Now with the metro area growing outward this view most likely does not exist and when I did this and many other drawings I knew that one day all would be overwhelmed by growth which have come to be. Because of the green grass it was drawn in early summer before all turned gold as the summer wore on. The line of trees in the background followed a source of water but the highlight is that standing alone tree that showed its vigorousness and new growth at the top.
