10 x 5.5 x 5.5"/ Raku-fired ceramic /
This is a Raku-fired one of a kind ceramic vessel. Raku is a Japanese firing technique where the piece is pulled glowing red hot from the kiln when it is 1800 degrees and immediately placed in a container of combustibles (I use dry leaves) for a post firing reduction. The container is covered, reducing air available for the fire, which causes the glazes to turn a range of colors. Every firing is unique and the colors can't be reproduced.
