78 x 120" / crocheted video tapeI am often struck by the beauty in the sinister. The photos of the Corona virus were intimidating but I could also not help but notice the beautiful color and form of this monster. Crocheting is always time consuming and because of its non-slippery nature video tape takes even longer. The scale of this large piece speaks to the extra time, space and anxious industriousness that this pandemic inflicted on our lives. The title "Viral" has obvious pandemic origins but it also refers to the term "Viral Video" often a positive thing. Almost 100 hours worth of video tapes and several wire hangers were used.
