Who doesn’t know the feeling of time flying by, a sense of helplessness in trying to keep up? It can have us sleep-walking through life, one day blurring into the next, tricking us into losing sight of the big picture of our dreams.
It’s one big reason why I turn to the mountains, religiously. Time may pass us by quickly, but those mountains stand their ground, they ground me when I feel I am getting swept up in life’s inevitable turbulences. Things change. All the time. All around us. Turn your face toward a rocky peak, though, and it will remind you that there are constants in life, still. Being so lucky to have those monuments of deceleration in my life, they have mentored me in how to live a life that’s just that little bit slower, more deliberate, more aware.
