BLURRED LINES

BLURRED LINES

One of the most glorious times during fall in Colorado is when seasons collide and the lines between what was yesterday and what’s inevitably to come start to blur. This was such a morning, in early October, when the colorful leaves still clung onto any brittle branch extended to them, while a fresh blanket of snow drowned out their muffled cries of despair. The thermometer showed 9 degrees Fahrenheit, senses fired in overdrive. A dash of panic flooded the veins. No one there to help. Change was coming. That transient time, the new seemingly forcing out the old, disrupting the way things had been for a while now, was real, a concern not to be dismissed. And yet, there was hope, as there always is. Is it really happenstance that the arching sky above donned the state’s signature deep blue, that non-threatening color, calling for calmness and serenity? No. Even in the most turbulent of times, there is always an element of stability, of reliability, an element that dictates order where there’s chaos, creates security, creates tranquility, and ultimately, creates peace of mind, peace of heart. The blue of the Colorado sky is that element for me.
