Sunflowers and Daydreams
40 x 30" / oil on canvasI've been so inspired by my time spent in France, I can't stop painting it. Imagine the warm July sun slipping down in the sky as the long evening twilight approaches. A dirt path encircles endless fields of sunflowers just beginning to create a sea of gold rippling over the rolling hills. Solitude, communing with the beauty around me and soaking it into my soul so that it's forever with me.
I painted Evening Promenade through French Sunflowers while I was still in Noyers-sur-Serein, and I loved it so much I decided to try my hand at it again. Sunflowers and Daydreams evolved slowly, just like the pace of that evening and the blossoming of the flowers. Each stroke is thoughtful. I spent more time contemplating than painting, and I'm so happy with the process and the outcome. I feel I successfully united the raw and random with the intentional, and I hope to continue along this journey just as I continued along those paths in Bourgogne.
