Dissonance

Dissonance

Artist: Nathan Eigenfeld

$350.00

Photography on Metal / Dissonance’ was my first Rothko style piece that perpetuated my belief in the power of minimalistic color for feeling. I shot this in Malibu from the bed of my truck after several days of lounging around doing some writing and processing some unresolved grief from my childhood. I named it ‘dissonance’ to represent the feeling of being two things at once. I am Caucasian and African American and have both adopted and biological families. My life has been full of dissonance that has twisted my guts and my spirit into knots I’m only now beginning to undo. On the third day of sitting with these feelings, the marine layer cleared and I received this gift from the ocean and sky.
