Patty Dwyer

Texture, vibrant colors and the interplay of light, shadow and passion are what Patty captures in her work – whether en plein air or in her studio. Patty is a very lucky artist who lives and works in Colorado. The mountains, varied seasons, water and intriguing skies are key elements in most of her work. Patty's style is both impressionistic and expressionistic with the use of color, brush work and emotion.

In the past few years, Patty has enjoyed participating in Plein Air Festivals held in Douglas, Jefferson and Boulder Counties  (Colorado), Estes Valley/Rocky Mountain National Park, South Park, Steamboat Springs, Taos - NM, Aspen, Grand Marias -MN & Moab - UT.

In July 2020, Patty was diagnosed with a Stage 3, malignant brain tumor and has been on the roller coaster of surgeries, radiation and chemo. (As if COVID wasn't enough!) Painting allows her to escape and leave that world behind her. Fortunately, she has a plethora of  plein air pieces started on location outdoors. When she works on one of those she can smell the smells, feel the wind on her face and hear the birds that serenaded her while she set up the painting. Patty's goal in life and art is to create paintings that transport you to a place of calm, color, texture and nature.
