In late summer, the angle of the sun lines up to create a dramatic shaft of light cutting through the Canyon Walls. The Painted Wall on the right is the highest cliff in Colorado. From river to rim it stands 2250 feet. Juxtaposed against the Painted Wall, with a similar shape as the exposed geology of the wall, is the Gunnison River.
