Andy has been drawing and painting since he was a small child. He focused on portraits in pastel and charcoal in his early years. His primary focus in recent years has been on mountain and ocean oil paintings. He is a graduate of Bucknell University with a Master's Degree from Emory University. He also studied Art and Philosophy in Florence Italy with a focus on the Art and Art History of Europe.
Andy is an avid snowboarder, hiker and surfer, and travels extensively. This provides him with an incredible range of settings around the world for inspiration. He calls his style Experiential Realism. In each of his paintings, he seeks to capture the feeling of the setting and the moment with an emphasis on color and composition. He often picks settings based on his adventures, and these paintings reflect his experiences in that environment. Andy wants to give the feeling of not just being there, but being engaged there. He tries to paint not just what he sees but what he experiences, and often alters the elements to reflect that.
He loves the interplay between the sky and the weather and its effect on the color of land and sea. His goal is to show the incredible diversity and beauty of nature, and to paint pictures that hopefully resonate with people who have been to those places or want to go.
